101 Things in 1001 Days: My Journey

Picture
Hello, My name is Emily, and I have set out to complete the 100 Things to Do in 100 Days Project. My tasks range from the ordinary to the profound, all designed to either make me a better person or to get me to do the things I've always wanted. This blog will be used to catalog my adventures as I try to achieve my goals. So what is this project all about?

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

So, now that you know about the project, let me tell you some more about myself. I am a music education major at UNC-G, and I play the oboe. In my free time I like to read, listen to music, and spend time with my friends. I lke to identify birds and insects as I encounter them, and I love an intelligent conversation. I am very concerned about current events, and I will also use this blog to talk about the news and issues of the day, as well as to review the many books and movies I have to read and watch for the challenge, and to talk about college life.

Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoy my blog. And who knows, maybe you will be inspired to start a 101 in 1001 list of your own.
